Thousands of students in Ghana on Friday came out to plant trees to save the planet from the impact of climate change.
The students were seen in parts of the capital Accra, planting trees with organizers of the project saying they intend planting some 8 million trees.
Friday’s program is part of the #FridayForFuture action, a global action by children around the world to draw attention to issues of climate change.
Most of the trees were planted on school compounds by the students who fear the worst for the future.

Ellen Lindsey from Young Reporters for Environment in Ghana said “When the last tree dies, the last man does! Ever thought of what this means?
Trees play very huge roles in reducing CO2 from the atmosphere and storing them in the ground. Let’s plant more trees,let’s save this planet. Let’s reverse.”

This year there has been heightened activism about climate change globally with young people leading the way.
