A Nigerian senator Elisha Abbo, 41 has been caught on CCTV attacking a female worker at a sex-toy shop in Abuja.

The Nigerian politician was patronizing products at the shop in the company of three girls.

He was seen in a video released by Premium Times newspaper in Nigeria slapping a woman attendant who was a nursing mother.

Despite being accompanied by some police officers, they did nothing to stop him from executing the onslaught.

The senator from Adamawa state told the BBC that the shop assistants had earlier assaulted his sister hence his reaction.

He claimed that the CCTV recording was made some time ago.

“It happened long before I came into office and it’s just being released now to actually achieve a political aim,” he said.

“Secondly, I want to also say categorically that they cut off a clip where they [hit] my sister in the shop before I was called upon…to go upstairs where I saw my sister lying unconscious in the shop,” he added.

Elisha Abbo is Nigeria’s youngest senator said the incident happened on 11 March 2019.

Premium Times who first carried the story have said that witnesses said it happened on 11 May, 2019.

There is growing pressure for the MP to be brought to justice.

Amnesty International, a rights group is calling for an investigation.

There are indications some activists will be staging a protest to demand for his arrest.
