Some Malians living in a Ghanaian town in the central part of the country have fled the community.

Local media reports that irate youth in a community called Abura Dunkwa Kwamankese attacked the Malians on Sunday evening.

Starr FM reports that the locals are angry at the alleged killing of a security officer who had a brawl with some of the Malians.

The Malians who do scrap metal businesses had their homes burnt by the irate youth. Police have been dispatched to the community to restore calm.

This is not the first time Ghanaians have attacked foreigners living in the country. In the past Ghanaians have also clashed with Nigerians in the capital Accra.

Last year some Nigerians were chased out from a community called Sowutuom following xenophobic attacks.

The locals in the Ghanaian town were angry at the stabbing to death of a local resident by a Nigerian.
