There is anxiety all over Zimbabwe ahead of the constitutional court’s judgement on the election challenge case filed by the opposition.
The panel will deliver a judgement on Friday at 2pm (local time) after hearing arguments from parties on Wednesday.
The opposition, MDC is challenging last month’s presidential election result. The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission, declared President Mnangagwa winner of that historic election.
He obtained 2.46 million votes against 2.15 million for the opposition candidate, Nelson Chamisa.
The opposition MDC alleges electoral fraud and rigging in favour of President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
Security is tight at the constitutional court premises ahead of the judgement.
We are outside the #ZimConCourt for the 2pm court ruling.
MDC alliance is confident of win BUT says if there is a rerun of the polls the court must take into consideration it’s under the current commissioners that “clerical data capture errors” were made. @eNCA pic.twitter.com/pd6R7IEuIn

What happened in court?
Lawyers for Chamisa told the Constitutional Court that there was a massive cover-up and doctoring of evidence during the election.
The lawyers for the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (Zec) in their arguments said there may have been minor clerical errors.
They however rejected claims by the opposition that those errors prove that there was large-scale rigging.
The Chief Justice Luke Malaba who chaired the panel is now expected to announced a judgement on the case.
The MDC is seeking fresh election or a declaration that Chamisa won the July 30 poll.
I’m so happy with e primary evidence & V11s we adduced based on ZEC’s own data.ZEC’s admission to making mistakes x3 in election result settles the matter. Key ? ..Was that e only mistake? ZEC seeks e court to validate a mistake & hopes to have a Con-court uphold a mistake??

The Court can uphold the result, declare a new winner or order a fresh election within 60 days. Its decision is final though.
