The King of Morocco King Mohammed VI on Monday underwent successful heart surgery in France, according to state news agency MAP.
Local media reported that the king was treated at a Paris clinic after suffering from a “heart rhythm disorder” on Saturday.
The state news agency MAP further reported that the King would be able to resume his duties without any restrictions.
King Mohammed, who is 54, is the leader of the Muslim world’s longest-ruling dynasty after he was crowned in 1999.
He succeeded his father, King Hassan II, who died of a heart attack.
King Mohammed recently led his country back to the African Union after years of absence from the continental body.
His country is also pushing to be part of ECOWAS.
