Militants in Somalia have executed publicly five men they claim have been spying for Kenya and Ethiopia.
The men aged between 23 to 36 years were killed in the Kunturwarey district in Lower Shabelle region.
In 2017 similar execution was carried out on 22 people al-Shabab accused of spying, committing rape and sodomy with villagers forced to watch such killings.
Meanwhile a Kenyan official has said that the militant group has also killed five police officers in the northern county of Mandera.
North Eastern regional coordinator Mohamud Saleh is reported by the AP to have said on Wednesday that the vehicle carrying those killed came under attack.
Al-Shabab continues to wreak havoc across the East African sub-region killing thousands of people and displacing several.
