More than 20 people are reported to have died in a train collision in Egypt’s Alexandria on Friday.
Ahram Online news portal reported that health officials confirmed in a statement that 28 people were killed and seventy-four injured in the train collision.
There are fears of high number of casualties although an actual figure is yet to be determined.
According to local media one of the trains involved in the accident was travelling from Cairo, and the other from Port Said.
An investigation into the collision has been ordered by Egypt Prosecutor general, Nabil Sadeq.
In 2013 a train derailment in Badrashin in Giza killed at least 19 people. There was another collision in 2012 when a train and school bus collided in the town of Manfalut in Upper Egypt. 51 people mostly children were killed.
