The President of Zimbabwe, Robert Mugabe has advised school children to take their lessons seriously and avoid dozing off during lessons.
He is quoted by News24 to have said that schoolchildren must “remember to guard against dozing off during lessons.”
Mugabe, 93, was speaking to pupils gathered at an indoor sports centre in Harare ahead of the country’s Independence Day celebrations.
“You must remember that we took our land back from our erstwhile colonisers… you are the inheritors of it,” Mugabe told the schoolkids.
He was referring to the controversial land reform program he introduced which was intended to take back lands belonging to indigenous Zimbabweans.
Zimbabwe is making 37 years of independence on Tuesday.
