Africa’s total coronavirus cases have now surpassed 6,200 mark, according to health officials.
Only 49 countries in Africa have so far reported of the virus totaling 6,221 as at April 2, 2020.
The continent has so far recorded recoveries of almost 470 as more countries enforce tougher measures to deal with the spread of the virus.
Togo and Eritrea are the latest to announce a state of emergency and a 21-day coronavirus lockdown respectively.
In Togo a 5,000-strong unit of security agents has been set up to tackle the pandemic, according to the President Faure Gnassingbé.
Eritrea has also said that during the lockdown, all citizens in the one-party state and highly-militarised state, including public sector employees, must stay at home.

Meanwhile Kenya is expected to receive $50m from the World Bank to fund ongoing efforts to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
The government said the amount will be used to procure protective gear for health workers, hand sanitisers and hospital beds.
Many countries are still rolling out stricter measures as the continent hopes the pandemic doesn’t get worst in the region.
