Ghanaians fast and pray over the coronavirus

Ghanaians are fasting and resorting to prayers on Wednesday over the coronavirus pandemic.

The country’s President declared Wednesday a day of fasting and prayers with the hope that God would spare Ghana and the world of the crisis.

President Nana Akufo Addo last week met some religious leaders for a short prayer session and declared that God would surely hear the cries of Ghanaians and provide a redemption.

He said in a speech over the weekend that “Whilst we continue to adhere to these measures and ramp up our efforts to defeat this virus, I urge all of us also to seek the face of the Almighty.

So on Wednesday, 25^th March 2020, I appeal to all Ghanaians – Christians and Muslims to observe a national day of fasting and prayer. Let us pray to God to protect our nation and save us from this pandemic.”

Ghana has recorded at least 53 cases of coronavirus with two deaths so far and there are fears the numbers could rise.

Africa has so far has recorded over 2,000 cases of coronavirus across 43 countries with 64 deaths so far.
