German Chancellor Angela Merkel has paid a working visit to South Africa and held talks with President Cyril Ramaphosa.
Merkel’s visit to South Africa is another testament to her commitment to deepening relations between Germany and Africa.
Discussions are expected to focus on trade, migration and economic cooperation.
The South African presidency said Merkel’s visit is “at the invitation of President Ramaphosa.”
President Ramaphosa said Germany and South African “bilateral relationship has a strong economic focus, which is mutually beneficial.
Bilateral trade is growing, our trade balance is narrowing & we benefit from the presence of some 600 German companies in South Africa.”
