The super star athlete also admits that besides being “bodyshamed”, she has also been “paid unequally” because she is a woman.
Williams also says he has run into many troubles recently and through out her career because she is female.
In a first hand essay she wrote for Harper’s Bazaar Magazine, Williams said “I have been shamed because of my body shape. I have been unequally because of my sex.”
The tennis great intends keeping the courage and speaking out about inequalities though.
She wants to help others who “look like” her in the future.
Williams further wrote “In short it has never been easy. But i think of the next girl who is going to come along, who looks like me.”
She also spoke of her love for Tennis saying “I love the sport. When I’m giving speeches I always say how important it is to love what you do. If you don’t, then find something that speaks to you.
Follow your passion. Of course, there are times when loving tennis is hard.”
She concludes saying “It’s not about quitting when someone presents a challenge; it’s about getting up when you are down, dusting yourself off and asking, “Is that the best you got?” Because I have God with me, and I can take whatever comes my way.”
