37 people in central Mali have been killed by armed men. The armed men launched the attack on Tuesday, according to government officials.

Those killed are reportedly from the Fulani ethnic group. Fighting between the Fulanis and rival communities has resulted in many deaths.

The government said in a statement that the armed men dressed like traditional Donzo hunters.

They raided the village of Koulogon in the central Mopti region killing civilians, some of the victims were children.

Mali continues to suffer from attacks carried out by militant groups. Inter-ethnic clashes have also taken a toll on the country.

Since 2012 Mali has been in turmoil after Tuareg rebels and militants took over north of the country.

Qatar recently showed commitment towards supporting the fight against militants operating in the African Sahel region.

The Arab nation sent 24 armored vehicles to Mali to assist in combating militants operating in the region.
