Democratic Republic of Congo officials say rebels in the country have attacked a region hit by the deadly Ebola.
The rebels abducted dozens of kids, killing 13 civilians in the attack which happened in the Beni region.
DRC military officials said on Sunday that the latest violence could impact ongoing efforts to contain the spread of the virus.
The Allied Democratic Forces rebels carried out the latest attack on Saturday and into Sunday. Last month the same rebel group launched an attack on the Beni city killing 18 people after six hours of fighting.
The violent made it difficult for health officials to reach out to people infected by the disease. Efforts were suspended only to be resumed weeks ago.
Rebels belonging to different groups continue to wreak havoc in parts of Congo creating a state of insecurity in some areas.
Over 100 people have died from the current Ebola outbreak as well.
The WHO has always maintained that fighting the outbreak has been challenging due to the ongoing militia violence.
The Ebola virus which is transmitted by bats. It was first discovered in DRC in 1976 and named after the Ebola river. Ebola leads to internal and external bleeding which can cause damage done to blood vessels.
