The Nigerian Football Federation has banned one of the country’s national team coaches, Salisu Yusuf for 12 months.
Yusuf has also been fined $5,000 for taking bribe to influence team selection for a CAF competition.
He was caught on camera taking cash from men posing as football agents to influence player selection.
The coach was captured on camera by controversial Ghanaian journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas in September 2017. The report was broadcast by the BBC.
Who is Yusuf?
The Super Eagles coach was one of the assistant coaches at the 2018 World Cup. He was due to lead the national team to the Olympics in 2020.
The NFF ethics and fair play committee says it found Yusuf guilty of accepting $1,000 to select two players for the 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN).
“He is hereby banned for the period of one year, from partaking or involvement or participation in any football-related activity, effective from the date of this decision,” the NFF said in a statement.
Anas fights corruption in African football
Anas recently also released a video which took two years to produce detailing corruption in football in Africa.
The journalist captured over 100 referees and officials on camera taking cash before games.
In Ghana his work led to the dissolution of the Ghana Football Association and the suspension of the President of the association, Kwasi Nyantakyi by Fifa.

Anas Aremeyaw Anas uses painstaking and life risking methods in unearthing corruption in the public sector in Ghana and Africa.
He usually disguises himself making it difficult for corrupt persons to identify him, a method that some of his critics consider inappropriate.
