Almost 150 people have been killed by a Cholera epidemic that has hit the Democratic Republic of Congo and Niger.
The epidemic since February has killed 127 people in the DR Congo, according to health officials.
Officials in Niger also said on Wednesday that a further 22 have also died in that country from the disease.
The United Nations says the 22 people died in Niger’s Maradi region, close to Nigeria.
That country has recorded 1,351 cases so far at health facilities.
A DR Congo health minister in the Congo’s Kasai region said, “A total of 2 100 patients are currently being treated and since February we have registered 125 deaths.”
Hippolyte Mutombo Mbwebwe said ten more cases, including two deaths, have been confirmed in central Kasai.
DR Congo is already battling the deadly Ebola outbreak with over thirty deaths recorded so far.
It follows the latest outbreak of the disease weeks after an earlier outbreak was declared over.
The experimental mAb114 Ebola treatment is now being used for the first time as the deadly virus continues to spread.
DR Congo officials are hoping the experimental treatment could help counter the latest outbreak of the virus.
