Malians are voting on Sunday in a presidential run-off election as they choose a new president.
The run-off is being contested by incumbent President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita and his main rival, Soumaila Cisse.
Both candidates failed to obtain more than 50 percent of votes in the first round of voting last month.
Keita won the first round of voting by 41.4 percent with Cisse coming second with 17.8 percent of votes.
In 2013 president Keita, beat Soumaila Cisse in a second round of voting. He won then by 77% although the opposition disputed the outcome.
Cisse coming into Sunday’s vote, failed to secure the backing of other opposition parties.
On Thursday, the third and fourth-place finishers in the first round of the presidential election declined to endorse Cisse.
This is seen as a major blow to his hopes of defeating Keita who he lost to in a run-off in 2013.
The elections are still taking place under a high level of insecurity following series of militant attacks in parts of the country.
Mali has experienced a lot of jihadist violence and ethnic attacks over the years with little progress in stopping them.
