A Ugandan national has been arrested in Ghana for trafficking 67 pellets of narcotics into the West African nation through its Kotoka International Airport.
The suspect Bwogo Federick, 53-years-old was arrested by officials of Ghana’s Narcotics Control Board (NACOB) after arriving on board an Ethiopian Air flight ET 921 from Kampala-Uganda.
In a statement, NACOB said Bwogo was arrested while going through arrival formalities at the Airport on April 25, 2018.
He was placed on observation leading to him expelling 67 pellets of narcotics within 48 hours following suspicion that he had swallowed the substance.
The statement said the suspect claimed a Pakistani in Kampala-Uganda gave the drugs to him but after further interrogation he told prosecutors in court in Accra that he was rather sent by a Ugandan national in Kampala-Uganda.
He was to deliver the drugs to a Ugandan national in Ghana for a fee of $1,500.
Security officials in Ghana have detained the suspect who has been formally charged ahead of a final court ruling on his offence.
