A French military source has told Reuters that a French national has been kidnapped on Thursday in eastern Chad.
Reuters reported that the military source said the individual kidnapped was taken south of the town of Abeche.
“Everything is being done to get him freed,” the source said.
On Tuesday French far-right leader Marine Le Pen met Chad’s President Idriss Deby to discuss the two allies’ cooperation in the fight against Islamist militants in Africa.
Le Pen, among the frontrunners in the French presidential election, used the two-day visit to meet French troops stationed in Chad and to outline her policies for the continent.
